We published a paper!

On December 25, after months of writing and analysis, I submitted a paper about Partners in Rhyme to The Journal of Poetry Therapy for publication. It reports on findings from four years of quantitative and qualitative data collected through Partners in Rhyme programs. My co-author, statistician, and daughter, Sonia Boor, worked alongside me throughout the process. We spent the summer and fall writing the paper together. This was such a memorable and meaningful mother-daughter project, and one I suspect we will both remember for years. It had been a very long time since I’d written a paper like this, and I’m not ashamed to admit that I doubt I could have done it without Sonia’s support.

In mid-January, we learned that the paper had been accepted with minor revisions, and we celebrated. On March 12, it was published online, and we celebrated again. It will appear in the printed journal in the near future, and we will likely mark this milestone with one final celebration.

We hope you enjoy our paper and learn about the positive effects of Partners in Rhyme, including favorable changes in the way teens and older adults view one another, as well as improvements in how teens feel about poetry.

Warmly,

Patti
